Podcast Edition: What Happened at CES

Howdy 👋🏾. It’s my favorite time of year, the Consumer Electronics Show. If you’ve followed me for a while or read the newsletter, you know this is an annual trip I’ve taken with my teams year after year.

What I love about CES is that it gives you a real pulse on where the industry is headed and where companies are investing their time. You hear from the biggest names in tech, like NVIDIA, right alongside thousands of smaller companies testing out genuinely interesting and sometimes downright wild ideas.

This year was a very different experience for the PerryLabs team. Through our partnership with WYPR, we had full media access for the first time, which allowed us to capture the show in a completely new way. I even shared a preview of what I was excited to see live from Vegas last week on WYPR’s Midday.

This morning, we pulled together all of those interviews and conversations into a special CES edition of the podcast. I dig into some of the most exciting things we saw, including the tons of robots on display this year. I also posted longer-form interview videos on my YouTube channel, including a behind-the-scenes demo of LEGO’s new Smart Bricks.

Take a listen and look, please send feedback. We’re hoping to do more live, on-the-ground coverage like this, and we’ll definitely be back at CES in 2027. Let us know what you liked, what you wished we’d included, and what you’d want to see next time. You can also listen to new episodes every other Wednesday or subscribe on your favorite podcast platform.

Speaking of feedback, one thing we definitely need to spend more time on next year is the truly wild and occasionally bonkers things you see at CES. Thankfully, the team at iFixit has us covered with their annual roundup of the worst ideas on the show floor. It’s a perfect reminder that not every gadget needs to exist. Enjoy.
